Dumbass lawsuit of the week

People are still trying to sue Borat! This time it's a man by the name of Michael Psenicska - he's the driving instructor that gave a lesson to Borat in the film. He is suing Sacha Baron Cohen and 20th Century Fox for over $100,000 accusing the producers of lying to him about the film.

Michael says he was told that the footage was for a documentary about "the integration of foreign people into the American way of life". He was paid $500 for his appearance. He also alleges he would not have taken part in the film if he had known it was a mockumentary comedy.

Bullshit, he's pissed because he only got $500 out of it!

20th Century Fox spokesperson Gregg Brilliant says tough luck, "He signed a release, and we have an agreement. Now, two-and-a-half years after giving his consent and more than one year after the movie was released, Mr Psenicska has decided to file a lawsuit, citing the financial success of the film, in spite of our agreement."

In some of the most fascinating casting news ever, Sacha Baron Cohen is said to be the frontrunner to portray the late Freddie Mercury of Queen in an upcoming biopic film developed by Robert De Niro's company, Tribeca Productions. Sacha reportedly modeled his character Borat's look after Freddie. But there's some competition for the role. Johnny Depp is also interested in the part and was in talks with producers last month about playing Freddie.

As much as I love Johnny, they MUST give this one to Sacha! Maybe he'll win an Oscar and he can go to the ceremony as Borat and no one will be able to stop him like they did last time!

Sacha Baron Cohen was asked to be a presenter at the Academy Awards but declined because show producers wouldn't allow him to appear as Borat. Spoilsports! He will still attend though, hopefully in character. I really hope he wins and when he goes up to make his acceptance speech he brings the fat guy with him and they reenact the fight scene onstage.

LOS ANGELES - A judge rejected a request by two fraternity brothers to halt the DVD release of the hit spoof movie “Borat.”

West Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph S. Biderman also refused to order the removal of a scene that includes the two men, who claim they had been duped into misbehaving on camera.

Biderman issued his two-page decision on Friday after hearing arguments the previous day.

The South Carolina fraternity brothers filed a lawsuit Nov. 9 claiming they were tricked into making racist and sexist remarks to British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”

In one scene of the mockumentary, Cohen as rowdy Kazakh journalist Borat hangs out with the men in a motor home and watches the Pamela Anderson-Tommy Lee sex tape.

The fraternity brothers claim the filmmakers got them drunk before getting them to sign release forms agreeing to appear in the film. Their names do not appear in the lawsuit.

The film “made plaintiffs the objects of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress,” the lawsuit claims.

A trial date for the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified monetary damages, has not been set.

Louis Petrich, an attorney for 20th Century Fox and One America Productions, said he was pleased about the judge’s decision.
